Around the Block 2011

Post by Cozzie on Fri May 27, 2011 9:27 pm

Thought I would whack up a bit of a report on our trip around the block so far, started out on the 13Th of April and headed straight to Shark Bay, hung around there for a while done all the usual stuff went up to Monkey Maia, out to Point Peron, wind was blowing so no fishing, headed of to Carnarvon for a couple of days

By this time Easter was upon us so time to hide for a while so off to Warroora Station great spot very windy though, spent Easter here with a couple of side trips into Coral Bay, left here and headed up the coast a bit to Exmouth and Yardy Homestead for a few days and a look around, decided we had enough of the easterly winds so headed inland to Karijini National park, what a place especially this time of year everything was so green and mixed with the red dirt just stunning, we spent a few days checking out the Gorges then back to the coast via Wittenoom checked out Wittenoom Gorge another stunning place, Wittenoom town gee what a shame could not believe how they just up and left everything, old FJ40s, the local sound company truck, tables and chairs still set up in the beer garden of what looked like the old pub.

From here we decided some fishing was in order so of to Cleaverville beach out of Karratha another top place camped on the beach for a week with howling easterly winds, once again we decided to head inland to Marble bar for a look, was well worth it especially Chinaman Pool, next stop Broome and my mates Cattle Station, next morning out Mud crabbing- mud crabs for days and all big and full of meat, we are now in heaven spent the next week helping with the branding and draughting what a buzz, time for a look at Cape Leveque that we had heard so much about well we were not disappointed this place is Paradise, just wish we had taken the CT and dinghy looks like we will have to head back up the Cape, we are now back on Thangoo Station helping with the cattle and loving It, we will hang out here for a while before tackling the Gibb River Road.
