Camper Trailer with Boat

Post by desert storm on Sun Apr 03, 2011 2:03 am

hey all,
Just wondering how many of you have a boat that you take camping with your camper trailer? What are the opinions of a CT boat loader versus a car boat loader. For me i am thinking that a car boat loader plus the boat on top could present a problem if you have a lift kit on the vehicle, making it more top heavy.
Having a boat loader on the CT also posses a problem in that you are not always going to be close to the water. So one would think you have to buy a folding trailer to tow it to the nearest water side, then there is another rego to pay.
thanks in advance for you thoughts and opinions,
John

hi John

Cant help you with a solution but have seen a few CT's with boats on top, seems a hassle to load and unload everytime you setup your tent.
Top of car would make more sense to me but as you say being too top heavy is a big issue.
Let us know if you do find a solution. I would be interested aswell.

hey Fugs,
well after more researching, one of the folding trailer companies replied to me saying that it will cost around $85/yr to keep the trailer registered. so...i reckon i could save up that much in a year in loose change i put into the piggy bank.
so leaning toward a folding trailer instead of 80kgs on the roof of the car, but we'll see...hopefully i'll see a few out there this june/july on the gulf track and see just how hard it is to set up camp with a boat loader in the way.
