Gulf Track

Post by desert storm on Thu Mar 31, 2011 4:24 pm

Hey, just wondering if anyone has taken their CT across the gulf track to Darwin via Boroloola and Roper. If you did, did you bring a tinnie? I am contemplating whether to bring the tinnie or not. them crocs are just a tad bigger than the boat up there!

Hi John,
welcome to the forum.
I rebuilt a Sunwagon camper and took it from Cairns across to Doomagee and Boroloola and up thru the Archers to Roper Bar and then across to Mataranka with our MQ Patrol back in 1986. It was a goat track then btwn Boroloola and Roper Bar, with the scrub hitting both sides most of the way. We didn't take a tinny (not the boating kind anyway) but there would not have been a problem. I expect the road might have been graded a couple of times since then, but you never know.

Cheers Mike

I have a couple Gall Boys (Kedron Caravans) DVD's and they have taken their caravans across there a couple times in different DVD's, the road looks fine (last 5 years Id say the DVD's were done) and yes they did take a tinnie if thats any help.

Cheer's
Safe and happy travels
